The guy is not even in peril at sea. Seems like it should be all-guard, instead of coast guard...

Something is definitely fishy about the JTF.

Survival at Sea
  • Check life-vest inflation & signal light
  • Assist others with their survival equipment
  • Stay close to the wreckage
  • Use wreckage as a floatation device
  • Form a chain with other survivors
  • Stay warm
  • In case of areal search, for a circle holding hands. Kicking up the water in the middle of the circle with legs
  • Never drink salt water
  • Eating creates thirst, only eat meats when liquids are available
With raft
  • Clear life raft expansion area
  • Inflate liferaft
  • If upturned, climb the raft and use straps to overturn. Careful not to end up under the raft, your life vest will push you up against its bottom.
  • Move injured bodies into the raft horizontally. Make use of inertia and the upward force of the water by submerging the body first.
  • Check activation of the emergency transponder
  • Call Maybday to the international VHF emergency frequency 16
  • Stay warm
  • Only use emergency flares when observed, ignore airplanes at high altitudes
  • Do not exert yourself paddling unless the shore is near and current favorable

JTF cooperation

In the spirit of cooperation, and mutual benefits, Violet does not mention she was no longer feeling that welcome or comfortable in Scarville. Her suspicions of one of their officers, and the rumors going about.

Basically, they were unable to find her, as she was no longer going to Scarville unless it was absolutely required.

The two organisations speak of synchronising their operations and communications.

Emergency Stop
  • Reverse propulsion
  • Full rudder (Steering = braking)
  • Turn the bow in the wind/waves, turn booms to maximum angle & raise the cockpit
  • Increase drag by towing buckets or any objects
  • Pump water aboard, increasing the vessels mass will decrease its inertia but increase its momentum (Basically slowing down, but requiring the same distance to stop)
  • As a last resort drop anchor

Entering Confined Spaces

Spaces that have been sealed off from the atmosphere for prolonged times, dimly lit and cramped, can be extremely hazardous.
  • Open hatch
  • Stand back
  • Measure viability
  • Shine a light inside
  • Post one observer at the entrance
  • Wear a lifeline
  • Venture into the space shortly and exit
  • Measure viability deeper into the space
  • When in doubt wear environmental suit and breathing apparatus
