The untrue Acorus and tears of Maria
Iris Pseudácorus Mallard
In her starched lawn fete dress
Iris, pallid blue, gold veined,
And as if coloured from dawn chills,
Or from the yellow-fingered touching
Of curious starlight

Scarletts Farewell
ViolentViolet wrote: ↑September 6th, 2022, 5:22 pm When arriving in Scarville, they see no "homeland security", and only JTF personnel they have seen before.
Why they would need to posture or deceive?
Instead, it is some sort of ambush, where they try to make Mallard the scapegoat for the JTF's own mishaps or failures to communicate.
As they lose their patience, being unable to twist reality to their narrative they lose it and start uttering profanities.
Violet knows all too well about military politics and is not about to be silenced and scapegoated, while not being permitted to refute false claims.
Instead, she walks out, commenting on the JTF's language.
Lieutenant Radcliffe does not respond on the radio for a long time, the admiral assumes she is being coerced by the JTF, before being allowed to respond.

Conscription
Legend describes the Iris was formed from the tears of Maria, resting in a desolate desert when fleeing from Egypt. The sharp edges of the leaves are a remembrance of her distress and love for the almighty.

Samaritan Intervention
Iris, most beautiful flower,
Symbol of life, love, and light;
Found by the brook, and the meadow,
Or lofty, on arable height.
You come in such glorious colors,
In hues, the rainbow surpass;
The chart of color portrays you,
In petal, or veins, of your class.
You bloom with the first in Winter,
With the last, in the Fall, you still show;
You steal the full beauty of Springtime,
With your fragrance and sharp color glow.
Your form and beauty of flower,
An artist's desire of full worth;
So Iris, we love you and crown you,
MOST BEAUTIFUL FLOWER ON EARTH!
- Edith Buckner Edwards (AIS bulletin January 1961)

Kind saviours or jailers?
The Latin species name Speudácorus, translates to false or untrue acorus,
as the plant lies about its identity disguising itself as the Ácorus calámus.
