Los Santos International Airport's backstory:
Located in the southernmost part of the city lies quite a small - compared to Easter Bay and Las Venturas - airport. Despite its smaller size it still thrived even days prior to the outbreak. Lead inside by the 425S Highway, the entire terminal of the International Airport sits underground, inside not being any space for parking made the whole terminal very busy with cars, taxis and buses moving constantly around the place. The airport has a decently large parking lot outside, though it is mostly reserved for staff. Founded in 1992 the Juank Air - being the dominant airline in the whole States - mainly provides air travel between the cities of Los Santos, San Fierro and Las Venturas, via the Los Santos International Airport, the Easter Bay Airport and the Las Venturas Airport, respectively. Though, less commonly, people travel Internationally all over the world with Juank Airline. Juank Air's fleet includes the AT-400 and the Nevada, as their main commercial aircraft.“LSX is now the fourth busiest airport in the world. The airport is made up of five gates that are connected by a U-shaped two-level main terminal.”
The day of the outbreak and following several days really put the airport's staff to the test. When the whole world went berserk, the current staff of the LSX - which included security, firefighters and the police currently on duty at the time of the outbreak - all decided to barricade themselves in the safe underground terminal of the airport, but eventually even they fell to their knees being overran by zeds and bandit raids.
Rise of the Broken Butterfly Flight School.
After the fall of the fortified terminal and bombings around the state, people begun avoiding the city completely, now only living around the desolate farms of Red and Flint County, which made most forget about the existence of the airport, further making the place more secure, outside of reach of the bandits and with its entrances being sealed shut only having one real entrance, which created an abandoned fortress waiting to be rebuilt.
It didn't take long for people to show interest in the place. Many met scavenging the place, they encountered a group already working on rebuilding it. People seeking maintenance tools for their aircraft and desperate for aviation fuel visited the place in hopes of finding said almost-artifacts. Those hearing about the idea of the airport being rebuilt, quickly agreed to join. It didn't take long for the group to form. They took their knowledge of the aircraft to the newly founded BBFS. Together focusing on maintaining a base that'd serve as home for still working aircraft.
Despite its name - the Broken Butterfly Flight School - is not mainly a school, it's not even a school. The main focus of the old Los Santos International Airport, now known as the BBFS, is now aircraft maintenance and pilot safety. A regular, commercial flight school takes a year, excluding the necessary medical tests and other requirements to start. Pilots here are mainly the ones with pre-apocalypse experience, though the new, aspiring pilots are welcome and can seek schooling in not only flying, but engineering and maintenance. The group avoids confrontations and mainly focuses on helping those in need as well as making deliveries from and to the empty desert of Las Venturas and the abandoned airport on the northernmost part of the island.
(( A little OOC:
Why flight school? Who are we gonna school? The zombies? Of course the last paragraph debunks it, but I still preferred "Flight School" over "Base" or just simple "Airport". With that out of the way - the main focus will be planes as they are actually easier to operate and much safer to travel with than helicopters. Even though it might not seem like that in GTA, because it's just a game. Normally helicopters require so much more maintenance and are just a pain to fly and maintain, especially in an apocalypse. EITHER WAY! I plan on actually delivering the promise - the IC flight schooling will take place for faction members and outsiders if they wish.
Who can join? Anyone, basically. Ideally either characters with aircraft operating experience or (better) characters with zero experience seeking to learn more about it. It doesn't stop at just aircraft. Of course every base needs security and normal civilians. These are welcome to join in.
I will provide more information to those wishing to join. Contact either on forums or discord: Masta#1110 ))
