Server Rules
Last Updated: 07/APR/2023

The In-Game Rules are the foundation upon which the server is set on. Any breach of the server rules carries direct consequences as it ruins the fun for everyone involved.

Any uncertainties about the rules, or any concerns in that regard, can be discussed via forum PMs or Discord tickets.

Administrative Discretion
  • Admin Discretion gives Administrative Staff the ability to punish players for offenses not suggested or written in the rules. This is typically used in situations when a player's actions or general behaviour creates a negative playing experience for another player, or disrupts the realistic roleplaying environment we aim to create.
  • This is typical to exist as all rules cannot be listed as each situation portrays differently and may not follow the suggestion/example on the rule being broken itself - Example, frequency of the actions being committed like Trolling or Aggressive behaviour in Out of Character context.

#1 — Common Courtesy
1.1 - Attitude
  • Treat other players with respect and don't resort to hateful slurs.
  • Refrain from having a toxic attitude in regards to the game and understand that in the end, regardless of the outcome of any situation, it is always a chance to enhance your roleplay and enrich your character development.
  • Players are expected follow Administrative instruction at all times, even if there is an existing disagreement with the judgement being made by the staff member.
  • Roleplay remains in-character until an Administrator states otherwise.
  • In the event you are caught up in an altercation with another player, you are not allowed to AFK or quit in the middle of roleplay UNLESS all sides agree. Quitting during a shootout to avoid losing your items is not allowed.
  • "Play to win" behaviour is not permitted, or endorsed, players with this motive and behaviour will not be tolerated, and each situation will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
Examples of disallowed conduct:
  • Derogatory terms aimed at race, religion, beliefs, skin colour, or country-origin.
  • Referring a historical value of a race, religion belief or country's past, such as to do with slavery, terrorism, etcetera.

1.2 - Character Portrayal
  • Players are expected to uphold the most suitable, and realistic character portrayal. (No abnormal characteristics that are super-human, or within a fashion that promotes play-to-win behaviour. Only exception to this rule are things that fall within the context of server lore).
  • English is the main roleplay language. The use of foreign languages in roleplay is prohibited.
  • The use of celebrity names, offensive or troll names (i.e. Restin_Peace, Ben_Dover, Adolf_Hitler) is not allowed. This rule also applies to permanent zombie characters.
  • Permanent zombie characters must have names that are in line with other character names in regards to format. A good example of a proper zombie name could be: "Screaming_Zombie", you may attribute anything to your zombie character name, however it is simply a placeholder name. If an admin finds your zombie name to be out-of-line in regards to server rules, you will be namechanged to a name that is more proper.
  • Roleplaying mentally ill characters as an excuse to justify senseless acts of aggression against other players is not allowed.
Examples of poor potrayal:
  • John Doe has no sense of emotion or feeling of pain, because of his training background towards a ministry, army, federation or entity.
  • John Doe only goes through the apocalypse relying on just looting, with zero interaction with other people or groups, thus only relying on script balances to keep him alive.

1.3 - Responsibility
  • Sharing of other game-servers, oriented to any Grand Theft Auto; San Andreas (Multiplayer) is not authorized on our platforms. You may only do so in private chats outside of the servers' context. (I.E. Discord PM).
  • Any use of OOC information against other players, and leaking thereof, in an attempt to dox them or harm them in any way, shape or form is completely prohibited.
  • Players have the duty to be honest and truthful to Administrative staff, of all roles and kinds. Failing to notify an Administrator of certain facts or lying about them is not allowed under any circumstances, regardless how minor or major the context is.
  • Ban evasions and harbouring ban evaders is prohibited. It should be reported, the same with falsified reports.

1.4 - Lore & Image
  • You are expected to roleplay sensibly and realistically. Do not bring up facts in the modern day, considering any developments in technology, media and television have all been halted since the year 1990.
  • The use of heavy modern-day slang which in no way would have found its way in this alternate world, is not allowed.
Examples of non-existing entities:
  • Netflix (Orig. 29 August 1997), Google (Orig. 4 September 1998), YouTube (Orig. 14 February 2005).
  • Facebook (Orig. 4 February 2004), Twitter (Orig. 21 March 2006), Instagram (Orig. 6 October 2010).
PUNISHMENT(S):
Verbal warning, kick, or ban based on severity.

#2 — Roleplay Rules

2.1 - Metagaming
  • Use of any method in which sharing in-character information is done through out-of-character means is not allowed under any circumstances. This includes VOIP applications such as Discord, TeamSpeak 3, etc.
  • Mixing of out-of-character information with in-character information, so as to gain an advantage over another player, is not allowed.
  • Inciting, encouraging or provoking Metagaming behaviour of any form is prohibited.
Examples:
  • John Doe arranges a meet on one character, and shows up on another to take advantage of assets.
  • Driving around with a friend or a group of people whilst using VOIP platforms like Discord, Teamspeak or a voice/chat platform that is not consider In-Character to co-ordinate rather than roleplaying and speaking in-game.

2.2 - Powergaming / Fear Roleplay
  • Roleplaying things that cannot possibly have happened to your character, in accordance with the timeline, is not allowed.
  • Forcing responses out of players through your roleplay actions is prohibited. Other players deserve the chance to respond to your roleplay as they see fit.
  • Disregard of one's own life is not allowed. Insanity pleas and things of that nature are not valid excuses. (Exceptional permission may be granted by admins, if you agree to a character kill.)
  • Initiating attacks on large groups of people despite being heavily outmanned is not allowed. (Exceptional permission may be granted by admins, if you agree to a character kill.)
  • Healing mid-fights and shootouts with the use of medkits is NOT allowed. Changing plates on a kevlar vest during shootouts is allowed through a simple /me indicating that you have done so.
  • Roleplaying items that are not available in your character's inventory scriptwise, or roleplaying not having items that are physically available in your character's inventory, is not allowed.
  • Forcing others to roleplay with NPC characters made by your own roleplay is not permitted. That is personal to you and should not be forced upon anyone or in any public setting for that matter. Only exception to this rule is microcities, who may roleplay NPC guards to break up scenes in the event that there aren't enough members on.
  • Third person camera spying is not allowed. You are only allowed to roleplay seeing what your character physically sees, not what YOU, the player, see. Your character cannot see behind a corner unless they are peeking. A good rule of thumb is that if others could see you, then you can see them.
Examples:
  • John Doe falls from a significant height that would otherwise cause concerning injury, but gets up and runs away without due concern or roleplay.
  • Jane Doe has been shot in the back, and even after significant time has not taken the chance to roleplay succumbing to their injury(ies) that would otherwise make an escape, or their next action near-impossible or difficult.
2.3 - Disturbing / Torture Roleplay
  • Roleplaying light torture is allowed, however more grotesque torture methods, like dismemberment for example, require both parties to have an out-of-character agreement.
  • This goes to any roleplay that may disgust another player, for example a graphic description and/or image of an action being taken to create severe or significant injury.
  • Cannibalism may be roleplayed, however only after discussing this with administrators by making a ticket.
Examples:
  • Dismembering an individual within torture, such as removing a ligament or body part within a confined area to gain answers out of an individual or inflict severe pain.
  • Slowly burning, or frequently stabbing an individual to death to create a slow painful death environment that would otherwise be unimaginable.
WARNING: Once any involved party in this roleplay asks you to stop for whatever reason they may have, you are expected to stop immediately.
2.4 - Withdrawing Weapons
  • Pistols and light weaponry (Tec-9, UZI) can be quickly drawn without any roleplay, as they are easy to conceal, quick and easy to reach for.
  • Weapons of a larger calibre (shotguns, assault rifles, snipers) are NOT permitted for quick withdrawal as their sheer size is noticeable, and thus the action would be far more noticeable, such as bringing a rifle around on a sling, etc. They must always be roleplayed.
  • Long melee weapons (swords, canes, bats) follow the same principle as large guns, their sheer length makes it hard to be unnoticed when unsheathing to utilize the weaponry, therefore requires a roleplay-action line.
Examples of permitted weapons for quick withdrawal:
  • Brass Knuckles, Knife.
  • 9MM Pistol, Desert Eagle, Silenced Pistol, UZI, TEC-9.

2.5 - Adult / Sexual Roleplay
  • You are allowed to engage in adult roleplay once two circumstances are met:
    A) Both parties agree to the roleplay,
    B) The roleplay is done in a secluded place so that no other non-consenting player may see accidentally.
  • You cannot roleplay anything sexual, or even sexually suggestive, with characters who are below the age of eighteen. Underage sexual roleplay, even among two minor character, is not allowed.
  • Roleplaying any non-consensual sexual activity, such as rape or harassment, requires out-of-character approval of both parties beforehand.
  • Roleplaying anything suggestive or sexual in nature as a zombie playable character is not allowed under any circumstances.
  • Pedophilia, teratophilia, necrophilia and bestiality are strictly prohibited with no exceptions.
WARNING: Once any involved party in this roleplay asks you to stop for whatever reason they may have, you are expected to stop immediately. Any depiction of sexual or explicit roleplay should not be shared with others without the consent of all involved.

2.6 — Robberies
  • Players below level 2 are protected and cannot be robbed so as to allow them time to experience the server first. Players under level 2 are not permitted to commit any robberies unless they themselves are accompanied by a robber of the appropriate level, in which case they are allowed to tag along. Looting players is allowed under all circumstances and does not count as a robbery, provided there is a legitimate reason for killing them.
  • The only time level rules do not apply is on robberies of necessity. This means robbing people off of medicinal goods and food is available for everyone regardless of level, assuming your character is in urgent need of such items to ensure their survival and longevity.
  • It is not allowed to rob the same player twice until 12 hours have passed since the last time you've robbed them.
  • Shooting players during robberies is prohibited unless they are not co-operative, in which case it is allowed to shoot and loot them. Shooting must be done as a last resort.
  • There is no limit on the amount of loot you can rob off of a victim.

2.7 - Deathmatching
  • You are not permitted under any circumstances to injure, harm, or otherwise cause a physical loss to another person such as killing and severe injury without a valid reason.
  • Fabricating reasons, or inciting violence between yourself and another player for the sake of fishing a reason to kill them is also not allowed.
  • Someone disagreeing with you is not a reason to be killed, however the situation varies as per examples below.
  • Players must opt for a better resolution than murder, despite the fact that it's a zombie apocalypse, you still are not vague and protected from the harsh reality of committing and being the reason behind murder. Therefore, it is expected that you explore all alternatives before resorting to killing.
  • After being killed by another player, you are not allowed to kill them to have revenge as your character's memories with the person who killed them is considered wiped upon death.
Examples of poor reasons to kill:
  • John Doe kills Jane Doe with an AK-47 because she called him a vulgar term over a disagreement.
  • John Doe is unrealistically provoked continuously by Jane Doe to get a response, and eventually snaps by throwing insults and the same attitude back does not constitute a reason to escalate to murder, or harm of the individual.
2.8 — Apocalyptic immersion rules
  • By wearing a /mask, you must actively have something covering your character's face with the use of a clothing item.
  • By using /mask, covering face with a clothing object, or using a skin where the character's face is covered, you subject yourself to the risk of being shot on sight around other players.
2.9 — Vehicles
  • You are not allowed to surf on top of cars unless the vehicle is a pickup truck.
  • You should not drive recklessly, over rubble or crash sites for the sake of moving faster.
  • Harassing other players with a car, by crashing into them randomly, is not allowed.
  • Ramming with motorcycles, bikes and quadbikes is not allowed under any circumstances.
PUNISHMENT(S):
Verbal warning, kick, or ban based on severity.

#3 — Cheating & Exploiting
3.1: Cheating
  • Any modifications that give an advantage over other players or disrupt roleplay in any form are prohibited. These include CLEO mods, speed hacks, wall hacks, etc. Do note that modifications which do not give you any advantage are allowed, such as cruise control & first person view mods.
  • Players who are aware of cheaters yet don't make an effort to report them are subject to punishment.
3.2: Ban Evasion
  • The use of any VPN without permission from an Administrator is a bannable offense. Using a proxy to connect to the server in an attempt to bypass a ban will significantly decrease any prospect of a legitimate unban in the future.
3.3: Exploiting
  • Exploiting server side features to gain advantage over other players, instead of reporting a bug, is not allowed.
  • Harboring bug abusers is also not allowed.
  • Abusing in-game mechanics, such as bunnyhopping, c-bug, c-roll, c-slide and others, is not allowed.
  • Tapping the 'lean forward' key to go faster on a motorcycle or quadbike isn't allowed at any time.
  • You may only driveby as the passenger of a car with a driver.
  • You may not jack other players from their vehicle without fully portraying the action through legitimate roleplay.
  • You may not car surf under any circumstances.
PUNISHMENT(S):
Ban.

Contested Territories
  • Contested territories aim to give players the itch of a fast-paced roleplaying environment in a zone where deathmatching is essentially allowed. The explanation behind this, however, is because the city is filled with bandits and there is no way to tell who's a bandit and who isn't, thereby allowing you to kill anyone you come across without a valid reason. These cities are regarded as a prize as essentially looting them grants you access to a high rate of rare loot.

The only contested territory available at the moment is Angel Pine, this includes Mount Chilliad. By entering Angel Pine, you must accept that you may lose all your loot in a shootout. High risk, high reward.
#4 — Contested Territories
4.1: Courtesy within Contested Territories
  • You may not drive other players into Angel Pine from other cities to get a chance at deathmatching them.
  • You may not delete your items when you are near-death inside of Angel Pine.
  • You must acknowledge that all other roleplay rules still exist within Angel Pine, and any breach of them could lead to administrative punishment.
PUNISHMENT(S):
Admin jail or ban.

Safezones
  • A safezone is simply a microcity that has status as a safezone due to its welcoming nature or its position as a facilitator of trade, gatherings & common roleplay for all players alike. This means that safezones must meet a criteria of being generally powerful enough in-character, and this comes through influence, geographical position & sheer force of number. A safezone city must be led by a faction that is not targeted towards a focus of banditry, as that nullifies the point of its existence as one.
  • All safezones are considered microcities, however not all microcities are considered safezones as it depends entirely on the city's ideological standard.

#5 — Microcity Rules
5.1: Safezone Restrictions
  • Safezones are areas where crimes are strictly prohibited due to a high amount of NPC guards and huge restrictions taking place.
  • It is allowed to infiltrate Scarville as a zombie, however it is worth mentioning that NPC guards will shoot you on sight.
  • It is not allowed to steal from or rob other players within safezones.

5.2: Microcity Restrictions
  • Major attacks on microcities are allowed only with clearance from the Faction Management Team, with appropriate reasoning as to why you wish to carry out the attack.
  • Brawling other players within the walls of a microcity is allowed, granted it is done in a secure alleyway or an area without any guard presence, NPC and player guard alike, such as a safehouse. Fighting in public in a microcity is allowed only if at least 2 player guards are online. Please note that brawls MUST NOT end with player kills in microcities.
  • Murders within microcities are allowed ONLY for citizens of said microcity, however it is worth noting that by killing people within a microcity you give permission to city members to Character-Kill you. Do note that killing players within the microcity should be done in a realistic manner; as the microcity is largely manned by armed guards, however kills can be organized to be made in private interiors or even secluded areas within the town.
  • Killing in public interiors within a microcity is NOT allowed without an admin's permission.
  • You are allowed to fire back at microcity guards ONLY if absolutely dire & there is no other choice. Otherwise, it counts as a disregard to one's own life (refer to rule 2.2)
PUNISHMENT(S):
Verbal warning or kick.

Special Characters
  • Special characters are available in the form of Chimeras & Bionics. Both are, according to the lore, scientific experiments to form the Übermensch. Those experiments were botched and those who were capable enough to survive them had moved on to become Bionics, while those weak, but not weak enough to die, had become Chimeras and were corrupted with an infection. More on this is elaborated in the lore.
  • Chimeras and Bionics are given special abilities that make them somewhat more effective, but not to a great extent, in comparison to other humans. They, however, have to abide by a set of rules to ensure the experience remains fair and fun for everyone.
#6 — Special Characters
6.1: Special Character Limitations (Bionic)
  • You may not use your character's special abilities publicly or in sight of other humans unless you are in conflict with them. Bionics are shunned and looked down upon by most humans, and so, those who choose to play as Bionics must keep their involvement a secret. Advanced Bionic characters are exempt from this rule and bear the consequences in-character.

    These abilities include;
  • Retractable Claws
  • Phalanx Injector
6.2: Phalanx Injector Limitations (Bionic)
  • You may not use the Phalanx injector without roleplaying properly. If your character is dead from fatal wounds, such as a headshot, you are not allowed to use it at all. (/damages)
  • You may not use the Phalanx injector immediately after dying in attempt to kill the person who had just killed you right away. You have to wait a minimum of two minutes if the person is still on scene, and if they leave, then you may use it. The only exemption to this is if you were downed by a sniper.
  • You are only allowed to run to safety after using the Phalanx injector. Engaging in fights is not allowed unless you are being fired upon first and you have to secure your safety.
  • You are not exempt from roleplaying injuries just by virtue of using the Phalanx injector. You still have to tend to your wounds and roleplay everything accordingly — think of the Phalanx injector as an adrenaline boost that could help give you that extra push to survive in dire times, but by no means is it a superpower.
6.3: Special Character Limitations (Chimera)
  • You may not use your character's special abilities when in sight of other humans unless you are in conflict with them. Chimera are shunned and looked down upon by most humans, and so, those who choose to play as Chimera must keep their involvement a secret. Advanced Chimera characters are exempt from this rule and bear the consequences in-character.

    These abilities include;
  • Zombie Scream
  • Undead Rebirth
  • Raise Dead
6.4: Undead Rebirth Limitations (Chimera)
  • You may only use Undead Rebirth after writing an action via /me indicating that you've used it. Type in the action, then use the command (/eat). You are allowed to engage in a fight immediately after using Undead Rebirth, as your character is rejuvenated by flesh and given an adrenaline high.
  • In the event you've used (/eat), you still have to roleplay your injuries after finishing up the scene you're in.

PUNISHMENT(S):
Forced character kill and/or race change back to human.
